Your First Visit

Welcome to Chain Lake Dental

What to Expect

During your first appointment, we’ll begin by getting to know you and your dental health history. Every new patient will receive a Comprehensive Exam, which includes the following:

Intra-Oral Scan:
We’ll perform an advanced intra-oral scan that captures a 3D model of your mouth. This allows us to accurately assess your dental health and create personalized treatment plans.

Radiographs (X-Rays):
Radiographs will be taken to provide detailed images of your teeth, gums, and bone structure, which help identify underlying dental issues such as cavities, infections, or other concerns.

Intra-Oral Examination:
Our dentist will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, checking for any signs of decay, disease, or other oral health concerns.

Extra-Oral Examination:
We will also perform an examination of your head, neck, and jaw to detect any abnormalities or issues that might impact your overall oral health.

What You Need to Bring

Please Remember

To ensure we provide the best possible care, please bring the following to your first visit:

A List of Medications:
Please bring a list of all medications (prescription, over-the-counter, and supplements) you are currently taking. This helps us understand any health conditions that may impact your dental care.

Oral Appliances or Retainers:
If you use any oral appliances, such as retainers, mouthguards, or dentures, please bring them with you to the appointment so we can evaluate them.

Insurance Information:
Please bring your insurance card, policy number, and any other relevant insurance information. This will help us verify your coverage and ensure that we can maximize your benefits.

Identification and Health Card:
Bring your health card or other identification, especially if we need to verify your healthcare plan.

Time Needed for First Visit

Plan for your first visit to last approximately 30–90 minutes. The length of the appointment depends on whether a dental cleaning is scheduled in addition to your comprehensive exam.

If a dental cleaning is scheduled, it will follow the comprehensive exam. This allows us to assess your oral health thoroughly and then clean your teeth, removing plaque, tartar, and bacteria to help maintain a healthy smile. The cleaning typically adds 60 minutes to the total time. Please note: In rare cases, patients may need to return to have their cleaning completed depending on individual needs. If you are not scheduled for a cleaning during your first visit, the comprehensive exam alone will take about 30 minutes.

After the Exam

Based on the results of your comprehensive exam, the dentist will discuss your treatment options (if necessary) and answer any questions you may have about your oral health. If any follow-up appointments or treatments are recommended, we will help you schedule them accordingly.
